Mission

To ensure that our university has an infrastructure that is necessary for high-level education, training, and research and that is constantly up to date with technology.

At the same time, according to the principle of sustainability, Istanbul Arel University also considers environmental impacts in purchasing decisions when deemed appropriate. Purchasing and Payment Services prioritizes the use of products and services that have a less environmental impact than competing products. Purchasing and Payment Services takes into account the following factors, in addition to the starting price, when making contracts and agreements on behalf of the university. Istanbul Arel University also encourages departments and units to use products and services that have less impact on the environment.

In the process of evaluating a product or service, besides the initial cost of that product, the following factors should be considered:

1. Energy efficiency : Prefer equipment with high energy efficiency. Review the energy use of purchased devices.
2. Shipping materials: Buy items that are returnable or reusable and shipped in containers made from recycled content (such as cardboard boxes). Also, request bulk packaging when an order is placed for multiple product deliveries at the same time.
3. Recyclable: Buy products that are recyclable or made from recycled content for their intended use. Prefer products that are recycled after consumption. “Post-consumer” is used to describe materials that fulfill their primary purpose and are discarded for recycling by a business or consumer. Other recycled materials are post-industrial waste, which are by-products of a manufacturing process and would not normally be used.
4. Other: The environmental performance of the seller and/or manufacturer such as waste prevention, waste reduction, pollution prevention, clean air home water programs, material reuse, minimizing scrap materials home other green factory initiatives, etc. should also be considered. The University should aim to minimize the amount of waste sent to landfills. Both the product purchased and attendant packaging materials  should be minimized as much as possible to avoid waste.
