Faculty of Science and Letters

Science and Letters is a faculty that allows social sciences and natural sciences to operate within the same structure, thus aiming to pursue scientific activities more easily and more successfully in addition to teaching in all basic sciences.

Istanbul Arel University Faculty of Science and Letters was also established for this purpose. A qualified education is carried out at the undergraduate and graduate levels with distinguished scientific staff within the faculty. The vision of our faculty is to bring our students together with academic and social studies that prioritize the mind and science, cultural, social activities, and academic staff who are open to developments and innovations on the way to becoming an information and technology society.

The mission of our faculty is, in line with Atatürk’s Principles and Revolutions, to provide education and training in accordance with the basic values and strategic goals of our country, to raise individuals who can think universally and are equipped with knowledge and skills that are valid all over the world, to produce knowledge and technology that can find application areas in our country and in the world, to engage in activities that contribute to the social, cultural, development of the society of students and lecturers who are members of our faculty.

The departments constituted by social sciences in our faculty are Turkish Language and Literature, Psychology, Translation and Interpreting and Sociology departments.

The departments within the scope of science are Mathematics and Computer Science, Molecular Biology and Genetics departments.

In all of these departments, an intensive work is carried out to train scientists with the quality that our country needs.

Faculty members take care of students closely and guide them in all respects. Students can continue their education in two separate departments by choosing the double major or minor programs if they have achieved the necessary success and if they wish. In addition, each student has the opportunity to continue his education with thesis or non-thesis master’s programs if he / she achieves the necessary success after undergraduate education.

In our faculty’s Turkish Language and Literature, Psychology and Sociology departments, English preparatory education is optional while it is compulsory for the students who were not successful proficiency exam in Mathematics and Computer Science and Molecular Biology and Genetics departments. For all of our students in order for them to be successful in their field, to follow international literature and to compete at the international arenas, language courses, including English, Advanced English and Professional English, are given during the six semesters of their undergraduate education.

In addition to this, our students can experience international education system at Europe by joining Erasmus student mobility programs. In order the facilitate the participation of our students to the Erasmus student mobility programs, equivalence of all the courses in curriculum of our departments with The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS)  has been realized.

We invite all our students to our faculty to walk together in line with the goal of being intellectual and global citizens who have the competencies to think critically, analyze, communicate, work independently, which are the qualification sought by employers and graduate programs.
